Currency For Exchange, Not Accumulation[]
Note: The title for this on the Mar 2015 cards is "Currency for Trade, Not Hoarding" (and the two versions above are different from each other.)
Currency that declines in value doesn’t concentrate wealth; you can’t save, hoard, or grow it. It’s great as a medium of exchange though, because people get the most value from spending it quickly. Local decaying currency has been used effectively in times of severe economic trouble to stimulate exchange and jumpstart a stalled economy.
Instead of banks that don't make loans in a down economy as interest rates approach zero. Turning forests and other ecological wealth into money just so “your money can work for you.”
Note: Earlier version explicitly referred to "local 'demurrage' currency", replaced in the 2015 version with "local decaying currency".
